What is the Early Childhood Education Framework (EYFS) for ages 2-6?
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a curriculum from England that focuses on creating individual learning. What makes this curriculum special is that teachers will observe each child to see what their strengths, interests or preferences are. Then, they will design teaching and learning that is appropriate for each learner. This curriculum will be able to develop their learning at the right points, as well as help bring out the hidden potential in children, giving them confidence and being able to plan a path for further development in the future.
The EYFS curriculum also focuses on building positive relationships in a learning environment that is conducive to learning, combining play, exploration and creative inquiry. All of this learning takes place both inside and outside the classroom. The benefits are that children not only develop their own knowledge, but they also build relationships with their peers, learn social skills, respect for others and practice decision-making skills.
For young children aged 2-6 years, playing and learning must go hand in hand so that we don’t feel too pressured and also get to experience the fun that they deserve so much at this age. In order to build an emotional foundation and not make them afraid of learning in the future, the EYFS curriculum in international schools promotes English in a creative way, that is, by training them to communicate in English in everyday life. When they try and make mistakes and repeat themselves, early childhood learners will become familiar with communication and not be afraid to try speaking in new languages. This opens up a world of language that allows them to start communicating confidently without worrying about being caught.
How does the EYFS curriculum benefit the development of young children aged 2-6 years?
Learn English with fun
Since the EYFS curriculum is a preparation before entering the learning system, the use of English is developed so that our children are familiar with using the international language, which is taught by native speakers. As for the learning atmosphere, it will encourage children to dare to speak English in a fun way, without causing pressure. Because if learners aged 2-6 years have this feeling, it may make them feel insecure and want to avoid learning in the long run. Therefore, learning English with the EYFS curriculum helps build confidence in using English in everyday life to create a foundation for further knowledge in the next level.

Strong in body and mind
Physical and mental development are important foundations for the growth of young children aged 2-6 years. Therefore, the EYFS curriculum focuses on stimulating children’s development through playing and learning at the same time, whether it is learning activities inside or outside the classroom as we mentioned above. These activities will help promote their quality growth, including brain, muscle, emotional and mental development, which are all important factors in life. If we talk about it holistically, when children have strong bodies and minds, these things will be the immunity for them to live happily and feel secure in life.
Learn about the world and us together
A child’s growth is not just about growing in knowledge, but they must learn about the world and themselves at the same time. The EYFS curriculum from England has a strong focus on cultural diversity. Little learners who study in this system will experience a diverse world from the age of 2-6 years. The advantage of them being surrounded by a variety of people, societies, languages, and other cultures from this age will help learners practice analytical thinking, decision-making, empathy for fellow human beings, and thinking of others. This opens up a perspective that is not just tied to oneself, but rather a more rational view of the world.

Promote creative expression
The advantage of learning through play is that little learners will have accumulated learning experiences in themselves. These experiences are important developmental connections, allowing them to make decisions with better understanding. And when they learn to think logically, it will lead to more confidence in creative expression, which will make them ready to learn happily in the next level.
